Many fans want Section 101

No, really — if you’ve send the M’s an email, you may get back a response that says “Bleacher seats are extremely popular with our fans as a place to enjoy the game and we have received many requests for these seats in the
centerfield ball catch area.”
You’ll all remember last year the angry fans picketing the stadium demanding that the centerfield landing be filled with bleachers. The angry chants, the petitions… I was scared violence might erupt, but fortunately things were pretty civil. It’s good that the Mariners took the will of the fans into account when they put those things in.

yeah, the whole nasty affair has scared me away from the ballpark full stop. i did get that same blanket email from the m’s btw. word for word. my brick was in a good patch of real estate as well. maybe i can dig it up and put it in my mariners shrine of seasons past. oh, well. i always said i’d be a fan until lou left. and i’m still checking this site every day. so, i guess that means the m’s are still a guilty pleasure of mine. just don’t tell the front office. they’ll spin it as ‘fans remain just as enthused as ever.’
It is tough to believe anything that comes out of the M’s front office. Sort of like the Bush administration.
Zing! take that Mariners, being equated to the Bushies! Its like if someone wanted to pay tribute to lost soldiers by reciting their names, and a parent company effectively put bleachers over those contribution-honoring recitations. ok, not quite the same. In any event, I am more glad than ever to still be living away from seattle – being in seattle would make me more aware of the M’s goings-on, and i would have the unenviable task of spreading my anger between Bush and co. and Lincoln/Bavasi and co. that would be a taxing excercise.
If these seats are “extremely popular,” why have I never seen more than 20 people in them? Most nights there are more people in FRONT of the section on the last remaining piece of the landing than there are IN the section.
Are people requesting these seats? If so, why? You could sit closer down the lines for the same price.
The seats were full at both Sox games I went to, but then the stadium was generally full.
You know, having a few seats for fans in the M’s dugout would be cool. I’m sure they’d be super popular too, since that’d be a great place to enjoy the game. In fact, they might get lots of requests for such seats already.
Shit, i want a seat in center field. Screw the stands. Just like a lawn chair and maybe a beer cooler out there in left center. I wont get in anybody’s way, randy really doesn’t make it out there anyways.
Maybe I could set up a lawn chair out in front of the M’s dugout–BoMel doesn’t make too many trips out of there, and when he does he’s never in a hurry.
And he won’t come out until the starter has thrown his 129 pitches.
not only do they send you an email that insults your intelligence but they but a return receipt on it to make sure you get it and read it. Let’s all send them email asking them to add seats in the M’s bullpen next year.
In Tuesday’s P-I the TV Critic, in a column titled “Brick by brick, fans taken for granted”, rips the M’s for covering up the fans bricks with the CF bleachers and team president Chuck Armstrong is even quoted as saying “it was clearly a mistake on our part…there’s no excuse for it”. It looks like you’re making an impact, Derek. Good work! And as a side note in 10 years of watching the M’s, that’s the first time I’ve heard Armstrong (who can never seem to keep his mouth shut about anything and whose feud with Randy Johnson is the major reason the Big Unit left Seattle) admit anything…
