Are You Ready?
A word of warning for anyone planning on attending a Monday Night Football game in the near future; beware the TV timeout. I think we sat through 842 of them. I’m going to have to reprogram my body to not shut down every three minutes for a commercial break. I’m guessing this is one event that is better on TV than in person. Especially when the home team gets beaten to a pulp, then has their star break his leg on a meaningless drive at the end of the game.
Also, the Worst. Fan. Ever. contest is officially over. It belongs to the narcoleptic that was to my left. He was a pretty big guy and apparently hadn’t slept in months. He snored through 98 % of the game, several times ending up leaning on me. We had to prod him whenever people wanted to get by. He did wake up for the cheerleader dances, though.

My best friend and I have been lifelong Packers fans ever since we were little tots, yet had never actually seen Favre play in person. I go to USC in Columbia and when I realized they were playing in Charlotte, I practically spent a month’s worth of food-money on tickets.
I just got home from the game and all I can say: Easily the best decision I’ve made in a while. =) I will say that the Panthers fans are, as a whole, a nice group of fans. We didn’t really have any a-holes around us and most of them would talk to me even though I was wearing the Favre jersey and cheesehead. Unlike Chicago or Minnesota fans….But it was nice seeing so many Packers fans in “enemy” territory.
And honestly, did they have to remind us EVERY time that #71 is inelligable as a receiver?! Can they not get this guy a new jersey?!
I’ve never been to a Monday night game, but every pro football game I’ve been to seems to go quicker than when I watched it on TV.
As to Kevin Barry (#71), he’s the back-up tackle so they can’t switch him to a receiver number. They bring him in as a tight end as part of their jumbo package for running situations.
The whole “#71 is eligible” thing was hilarious. And they never even bothered to throw him the ball.
this belongs in a mariners discussion? I’d rather talk about transformers.
Yeah, I understand why they can’t switch his number, but it just seems hilarious that everytime he’s on the field, they have to let everybody know Favre is allowed to throw to him. After you’ve heard it 10000 times, it just gets hilarious.
And like Dave said, he not once was thrown the ball, making it even that much more funny.
What is this “throwing the ball”? There’s no throwing the ball in football, only the goalie can touch the ball with his hands. Also, whenever I watch football on TV, they just show ads with the score frame, there’s never any “tv timeouts” from what I’ve seen.

I don’t think Barry has ever had a pass thrown his way. At Lambeau (I’ve had the honor of being there twice) the crowd cheers when he is announced as an eligible receiver, as it usually means Ahman Green is about to get a big run.
