Hart in Left? Good thing we won’t start a fly-ball pitcher…

  2. LongDistance on September 14th, 2014 12:37 pm

    Supremely succinct post, Marc.

  3. Westside guy on September 14th, 2014 12:44 pm

    Punt!

Amazing how much impact each remaining game now has on the playoff situation. Unfortunately, with this lineup, I fear tomorrow’s odds may have fallen below 30%.

  4. Dennisss on September 14th, 2014 12:58 pm

If Lloyd is “playing the odds”, why does it feel like the odds are way against the Mariners with this lineup?

I’ll take Saunders against a lefty over a crappy right-hander who can’t field his position any day.

  5. alfredodm on September 14th, 2014 1:37 pm

Agree with all of you: this is not what I would call a must-win-this-game lineup. Splitting hairs, perhaps, but Hart batting ahead of Seager means they’ll likely walk Robbie to face the next two in high leverage situations, if it even comes to that. Let’s hope Mac proves us wrong. Go Chris! Go M’s!

  6. msfanmike on September 14th, 2014 1:38 pm

Lloyd is having a bad week. Hopefully he snaps out of this slump, soon.

  7. alfredodm on September 14th, 2014 1:58 pm

Also having a bad week: the Cleveland bullpen

  8. msfanmike on September 14th, 2014 2:03 pm

Clutch time, Kendrys. Show us what you’ve got.

  9. WTF_Ms on September 14th, 2014 2:12 pm

    Kendrys and Hart….pure hitters.

  10. alfredodm on September 14th, 2014 2:17 pm

Yep. 4 and 5 spots showing us how it’s done.

  11. alfredodm on September 14th, 2014 2:20 pm

Last night I heard from one of MLB’s announcers that Mac should get consideration for AL Manager of the Year. Let’s just say that I do not agree.

  12. WTF_Ms on September 14th, 2014 2:20 pm

Followed only 2 batters later by another “pure hitter”…This is sad.

  13. WTF_Ms on September 14th, 2014 2:40 pm

    Here we go again:

“Clutch time, Kendrys. Show us what you’ve got.”

How do we think this will work out?

  14. msfanmike on September 14th, 2014 3:20 pm

    Good golly, Saunders.

  15. djw on September 14th, 2014 3:23 pm

The organization’s idiocy with respect to Morales is going to keep us out of the playoffs.

  16. Jake on September 14th, 2014 3:25 pm

What a fucking JOKE this lineup is today. Holy shit.

  17. msfanmike on September 14th, 2014 3:26 pm

Pretty routine AB for Kendrys. He certainly has proven that there is no such thing as “clutch.” He might also be able to prove “absolute zero” exists, if given enough time.

  18. Westside guy on September 14th, 2014 3:27 pm

I’m not really paying attention to the game – my sanity is stretched thin enough as it is. What did Saunders do, swing at a bad pitch?

Nice to see Kendrys is being consistent.

  19. Jake on September 14th, 2014 3:30 pm

Now Hart is costing teams runs with his “outfield” play.

  20. msfanmike on September 14th, 2014 3:31 pm

It looks like Westy’s decision to punt on first down, was sound.

  21. msfanmike on September 14th, 2014 3:32 pm

    I thought you punted?

  22. Westside guy on September 14th, 2014 3:34 pm

The team punted, given the lineup.

  23. bookbook on September 14th, 2014 3:35 pm

McClendon may be a good manager, but he shouldn’t be legally allowed to touch a line up card. Corey Hart might be worth a flier next April but it isn’t realistic to expect anything from him right now.

  24. msfanmike on September 14th, 2014 3:37 pm

Saunders pinch hit. Struck it in 3 pitches. Late on a fastball for strike two. 3/4 later than late check swing – for strike three. Runners on second and third with one out at the time. It followed a feeble ground out by Jackson – just in advance of a feeble Kendrys popup.

Saunders should be playing every day, but what do we know. Kendrys should be retroactively retiring.

  25. Longgeorge1 on September 14th, 2014 4:02 pm

    Fire Pete Carrol

  26. Jake on September 14th, 2014 4:08 pm

Hopefully people didn’t get suckered into buying season tickets because of the “2014 postseason priority.”

  27. Westside guy on September 14th, 2014 4:10 pm

That was a weak swing on a bad pitch, Michael.

A’s are probably feeling confident again. Good job, Mariners!

  28. msfanmike on September 14th, 2014 4:15 pm

Well, the Royals lost today, so Mariners and Royals are effectively tied in the loss column – when the Royals complete their suspended game on the 22nd. However, the Blue Jays are very much back in the mix and are likely looking forward to some payback against the Mariners.

God, this homestand was just awful. A mouthwash inducing experience.

  29. Longgeorge1 on September 14th, 2014 4:17 pm

That’s baseball, we were out pitched. I am still more than surprised by their success. It is hard to be too disappointed as I thought they had little chance at the end of April

  30. Jake on September 14th, 2014 4:17 pm

The funeral pyre is prepared, all that is needed is the match, which will probably be supplied by the Angels over the next couple games.

  31. msfanmike on September 14th, 2014 4:17 pm

I think it will take a 10-4 finish to get in. Maybe 9-5, but should a team that is routinely as bad as this team shows – actually be allowed into the playoffs?

  32. Longgeorge1 on September 14th, 2014 4:21 pm

Gee msfanmike you’re talking 90 wins. It would not be the first time a 90 win team made the playoffs. I would say they would be one of the more unbalanced teams, but it is what it is.

  33. Westside guy on September 14th, 2014 4:23 pm

Well, to get anywhere near that record, Mike, they’re going to have to beat the Angels a few times. If they pull that off, they’ll deserve a playoff spot.

I’m not feeling particularly optimistic about their chances, though. They really needed to take a couple (at least) from a reeling Athletics team. Instead they seem to have righted the A’s ship.

  34. MrZDevotee on September 14th, 2014 5:45 pm

    Rainbow Fart Warning:

We’re 7-5 against the Angels to date.

  35. Westside guy on September 14th, 2014 11:40 pm

    *sniff* *sniff*

Hey guys, I think MrZ is nearby…

  36. LongDistance on September 15th, 2014 1:48 am

Z-Fart: (Smoak and Hart, combined salaries: about $8.5 million. Combined hits last night: 0. Combined BA: below or barely .200 … and those aren’t clutch hits.) They’re due!
