Derek looks like that guy who tried to kick my ass in high school.
Well, according to Jim Thomsen, I look like the love child of Kevin Costner and Billy Bob Thornton…

For a baseball geek, Derek’s a pretty good looking dude.
Way more attractive than Theo Epstein.
Just looking at all these pictures, I’ve noticed that there is a general dark brown hair theme.
Dave … that’s a compliment, considering I look like the love child of Beavis and (Ernest) Borgnine.
I can’t ID everybody, sadly, because I met so many people so quickly that I couldn’t retain all face-name-recognition capacity. (My mind did a data dump with every 10 handshakes.) But here’s who I DO remember:
#2 is Super Reader Paul Covert.
#4 — the first two, from left, are Jeff Shaw and Moira.
#5 — Jon Wells is in the foreground, with Conor Glassey’s dad and Conor at far right.
I hope the rest of you will help me fill in the blanks.
Dave and Derek and Jason are all really good-looking baseball geeks. Seriously.
And I’m the third person (on the far right) in #4.
I have to say, not doing the nametag thing did make it harder to put a name to a face….
Blast, the whole time I was thinking “I wonder which one is Jeff Shaw” and I was sitting right next to him. Nametags at the next one for sure.
I actually asked Dave about that when he asked me if I’d briefly join the USS Mariner payroll as bouncer … his direct quote: “Nah, I hate nametags.” I do, too, but I think the orientation factor of nametages might slightly supersede the super-geek factor.
