Mark Lowe up

The M’s have called up Mark Lowe, originially ticketed for Tacoma, to replace Eddie Guardado on the 25-man roster. Unfortunately, the only story I can find is here.
Here are Lowe’s 2006 numbers.
The story is up on the M’s portal of propaganda.
It is now on Seattle Mariners home page.
What kind of playing time will he see with Grover at the wheel?

Meet Mark Lowe, new rosin bag bringer-outer.
#3 I was hoping more along the lines of him taking Piniero’s Rotation spot!
Is he any relation to Derek Lowe? If so, perhaps we can trade him and Jeff Clement and receieve Jose Mesa or Roberto Hernandez in return?
Wait….is this Mike Hargrove we’re talking about? 😀
Holy crap they just spent 3 minutes on Baseball Tonight talking about how good Matt Thornton is :S
Well he has vastly improved since leaving the M’s. Big surprise.
re:#7
🙁 So unfair.
Thornton has cut his walks in about half this year.
I’m in no way surprised to see Mark Lowe up. The Ms want to see what is available or nearly in the system, and they’re rushing guys up the ladder to get a look against advanced competition. And frankly, as I said in another post I’d far rather see Lowe put in place as the ‘righthanded power bullpen arm’ than to trade Lowe or the equivalent for the same thing from another team.
Here’s part of a story that just moved on the Associated Press wire:
SEATTLE  Mark Lowe may want to start answering every call.
The 23-year-old pitcher was in a Tacoma, Wash., hotel room Friday morning preparing for lunch with his agent and awaiting the arrival of his new, Triple-A teammates from a road trip when his cell phone began ringing. And ringing.
The Seattle Mariners’ fifth-round draft choice from 2004 ignored the calls. He didn’t recognize any of the numbers  those of Mariners’ executives.
Finally, Greg Hunter, Seattle director of minor league operations, called the hotel and had the front desk track down Lowe to tell the Double-A closer to hop in a car and head north  a half-hour drive to the major leagues.
“I said, ‘You’re kidding me.’,” Lowe said later Friday, just before he began his role as middle reliever in the Mariners’ bullpen for a weekend series against Detroit.
Lowe’s selection from Double-A San Antonio to fill traded Eddie Guardado’s roster place is the latest evidence Seattle is serious about its recent push to rush prospects through the minor leagues.
Lowe’s locker is next to Felix Hernandez, who spent just 10 games at Double-A and 19 games at Triple-A before entering the Mariners’ rotation last August.
“We’ve moved them real fast,” Mariners general manager Bill Bavasi said.
“We continue to bring in young kids to a developing, young club.”
He then mentioned left-hander Jose Jimenez, the latest Pacific Coast League pitcher of the week in Tacoma who could be the next in line for a promotion. Jimenez, signed in Venezuela in 2003, is in his first half-season in Seattle’s minor league system.
Lowe said Mariners’ minor leaguers, especially pitchers, know they could be in Seattle any day.
Felix might be exhibit A of a guy who was pushed too fast.
What, exactly, did Felix have left to prove in the minors? He clearly can pitch in the majors. How long would you have left him down there?
The only argument I can halfway agree to about leaving Felix down…is service time. Every year he’s up here is one year closer to his new Yankee contract.
He then mentioned left-hander Jose Jimenez,
Cesar, God damnit. Jose Jimenez pitchers for the VSL affiliate.
Hey, I thought it was really exciting. I seem to have been there for a pretty high number of Mariner player debuts in the last year or two, including tonight. It gave us something to cheer for even with the 6-0 game.
So does the trading of Guardardo mean the Mariners are sellers or buyers?
it means they finally did something good. a year too late.
One move down, one or two more to go. Time to send off Mateo and JoEl.
