Thank goodness Cards @ Mets is postponed, because otherwise there would be two playoff games on at the same time.
MLB’s scheduling is incomprehensible.
Detroit @ Oakland, Verlander v Loaiza.
Then there’s this (Verducci: “Yankees should pass on Zito, pursue Matsuzaka”):
Verducci at least explains the posting process adequately (he thinks the winning bid will be at least $20M and the contract with Matsuzaka would be “at least A.J. Burnett money: five years and $55 million”).
wow, mlb.com is also showing games from the Hawaiian Baseball League… there is a roster list here
on Friday Game 3 of the American League Championship Series between the Tigers and Athletics will start at 1:30 p.m. PT, Game 2 of the National League Championship Series between the Mets and the Cardinals will start at 5:05 p.m. PT
#52, I see one Mariner on the rosters, a David Asher who pitched for Everett.
I would LOVE to see Gil Meche in pinstripes.
I’m not sure it’s so impossible. You know how much credit they give to a) players who beat them and b) players who do well in Yankee Stadium. Meche’s line against them:
3-2 with a 3.88 ERA and 35/19 K/BB in 48.2 IP.
It’s not exactly amazing, but I know he really whooped them once in NY, and despite the higher ERA he’s pitched better against them in Yankee Stadium than Safeco. Could be tempting, though being burned by the likes of Pavano and Wright might make them a little gunshy about a guy with Meche’s history.
