I know sometimes it is necessary, but I absolutely hate intentional walks.
Unfortunately, I wonder if that blown safe call was making up for the two balls-that-were-actually-strikes to Broussard. I know it’s not the same ump, but that ump could see those calls just as well.

Like I say, the city of Seattle is cursed and the curse will not be lifted until we give America back to the Native Americans. Of course then most of us will have to move back to Europe so their wont be much point in being a Mariners fan because the Native Americans will disassemble the military-industrial complex that European immigrants have constructed. So basically its a catch 22 being a Mariners fan. So don’t get your hopes up.

219: you’re technically supposed to touch the base on a force just like you’re supposed to tag the runner…you’re too literal on here, I was venting on Jose not making a play he should make and trying to come up with a way it could have been called out for the M’s because in the heat of the moment I want them to win and get these outs instead of give them away…sorry if rationale and being a fan doesn’t always go hand-in-hand.

completely agreed. The offense has its own problems, not walking, grounding into double plays, bad baserunning, stranding runners left and right… but they have been scoring decently well, and all these late-inning rallies would have lead to wins if it werent for the horrible starting pitching.
And relieving.
Ramirez and Mateo just aren’t very good.
Is it true, I heard Sims say that this was the very first pinch hit grand slam in Mariner history? Can that be true?

One more nail in Hargrove’s coffin. I didn’t see the game, but I’m comfortable in saying so, because it’s Bavasi that holds all the cards. At some point Bavasi will jettison Hargrove in hopes of a turnaround that makes him look like a genius, masking his craptastic effort at constructing a lineup and rotation.
OK, best case scenario, five more consecutive losses, Grover melts down in post game press conference, gets fired. What’s not to like about that?
With Weaver going tomorrow, and cannon fodder brought up for Monday, we’re pretty sure the next two are going down, while even if Washburn pitches well on Tuesday, it will only be to see the ubiquitous Mateo come in and blow the game.
Follow that with two mandatory losses at Oakland and we’re there.
If that’s not enough, maybe a sweep at Safeco by KC will seal the deal, capped by a Gil Meche shutout on Sunday.
#242: I don’t know how after Hargrove gets fired why anyone would call Bavasi a genius for something that needed to be done last August.
Although certainly getting him fired would be a step in the right direction. It should definitely be interesting to see what happens if this losing streak gets up to 8, 9, or 10 games (right now we are at 5). . .

Heck, even Jeff Cirillo and Al Martin have come back to Safeco and hit home runs against us in games.

Just to close out this whole sorry thread… sorry about the lack of punctuation and capital letters in my last two or three posts. I was letting my 9-year-old type my posts while I was eating my burrito (I’m NOT making this up). Apparently I need to speak to him about USS Mariner etiquette, and also about that sorry excuse for a fourth-grade teacher he has.
Still, though, I liked the Ginsburg comment. We have some literate readers/writers on this blog! Nice. I loved 221’s post about the Native American curse, but I think it would have been much better if it lacked punctuation and capital letters.
And as far as the Ms: Is it too early to give up on the playoffs? I think not.
