   I want to keep Burke in the organization until he retires (and then convince him to manage in the M’s farm system); the guy is a gamer.

   Given Burke’s performance perhaps the M’s can finally rid themselves of Rivera and promote Adam Moore to AA.

   4- Richie’s face tells everything about the team right now…they are having fun…

   6- burke should stay as the backup until he retires…he’s cheap, old school, and does everything he needs to…

   7- nothing wrong with keeping rivera in the minors…he’s a good kid, and every team needs quality throughout the farm system…as long as they have ZERO intentions of bringing him up past AA…

    Richie’s face tells us that as much as it’s about the money, there are times when these guys would be out there doing this for free — whether they admit it publicly or not.

    Speaking of sacrificing chickens in Major League, if you listen to the commentary on the DVD (“Wild Thing Edition”) the writer/director says the little Voodoo doll “Jobo” (or whatever it was called) has gone missing. Nobody involved with the production knows what happened to it. My theory is that it is getting passed around from locker room to locker room in the MLB, accounting for some of the more imponderable wins and player performances over the past couple of decades. It clearly spent quite a bit of time in Miami, managed to actually come to life briefly in 2004 (when it was mistaken for “Mini Pedro”), and now… well, since we’re assured no other performance enhancing substances are involved, it must be under lock and key in a certain locker in San Francisco.

    Burke reminds me of Pat Borders. With the added bonus that he can actually hit.

    I think about 14 years in the minor leagues, and I can only say that this is one tough dude to weather that and still produce, make a team and make a difference.

    I am amazed at how well he runs, throws and hits.

    Having watched him in a couple spring training games, he forced the front office to take him – even with Rivera cast in the Felix commercial. He was so much better than Rivera it wasn’t even close.

    And remember, if the M’s needed a 40 yard field goal he could kick that as well.

    Well, just because you don’t play the position doesn’t mean you might not have some insight into what it takes to play it.
