Weekly Self-Promotional Post

Yep, my least favorite post of the week is back, reminding you that I’ll be on KJR in about 15 minutes (2:20 pm) to talk Mariners baseball with Groz. I’m just not so good at this self promotion thing.

Fixed.
wow! perfect timing for a reminder!
Minor phone issue!
talking little too fast again..lol..take a breath dave..and dont breath into the phone..lol..
Dave’s doing just fine on the speed.
He’ll be fine when puberty kicks in.
Dave – great info as always!
6: on the speed or on speed? Great segment Dave.
Thanks Dave. I think knowing you voice now, and your speed, which is slower than the first couple of times out is working just fine. You are doing great.
Content per mins. on the air. Fantastic.
He’ll be fine when puberty kicks in.
Shouldn’t having gone through puberty prevent an alleged adult such as yourself from showing up once a week to make the exact same terrible joke every Friday?
Nice job, Dave.
Nice job, Dave
Great segment, Dave. I wish this sort of analysis would have been on the radio when I was living in Seattle a few years ago.
#7 — why you trash the site’s authors who give us so much great analysis is beyond me. What’s your problem?
excellent insight as usual..good job dave..
I actually wish these reminders would be posted sooner. I forgot about the KJR interview today.
I just missed it, they going to post this up on KJR?
It was perfect timing for me – I am usually not able to listen to a radio on Fridays at 2:20 p.m. (and I almost never listen to KJR) but this time I read the post just in time to tune in.
I liked how Dave rebutted Groz’s “Weaver is better than Felix right now” thesis with solid commentary. I have more respect for the Groz and KJR having heard him give Dave a chance to educate the more casual fans on the “why” the M’s are winning.
Good work Dave.
Can someone give me a brief of what Dave said? He always has a good line.
Oh God, my eyes, my eyes!!!!
Is KJR’s web page the worst ever or what? I’ve seen teenagers’ MySpace pages that appear to have been designed by a barrelful of monkeys on crack that look better than that train-wreck.
Even when I lived in Seattle in the 90s, I never really listened to any sports radio, so I can’t compare what I’m hearing from Groz now to what his history is or what KJR has been known for, but I’m impressed by Groz’s willingness to discuss new ideas and treat Dave with essentially the same respect that he would give a coach or a Times or P-I writer calling in. (Let’s be honest: To the average guy listening to KJR, Dave is a nobody with no known credentials, so Groz is taking a bit of a chance by giving a blogger a platform and risking pissing off his followers, many of whom are surely not fans of advanced stats and anyone who hails from the Inter-Net.)
So it’s refreshing. But I’m sure it riles some fans. “Hey, man, I have my own Blogspot site where I write all the time! Where’s my 10 minutes?!?”
Here’s a transcript (I apologize for any inaccuracies but I can’t type fast enough to keep up with Dave):
It’s a beautiful day for baseball. Baseball is won/played between the lines. You can’t hit the ball if you don’t swing the bat. It isn’t over ’til the last out. You can’t beat fun at the old ballpark. You can’t steal first. Hit ’em where they ain’t. A hot dog at the ballgame beats roast beef at the Ritz. I believe in the Church of Baseball. I tried all the major religions and most of the minor ones. I’ve worshipped Buddha, Allah, Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, trees, mushrooms and Isadora Duncan. I know things. For instance, there are 108 beads in a Catholic rosary and there are 108 stitches in a baseball. When I learned that, I gave Jesus a chance. Why does everybody stand up and sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” when they’re already there?
Seriously, if these weekly segments are archived, I’d love a link.
Cool – that was the first one I’d heard; I kept missing the previous shows.
Very good stuff. I never thought sports radio could be listenable!

There’s a podcast box, but the last one posted is from Tuesday. Dave’s previous appearances are all in there, though.
Sorry I missed out on listening to you today. For some reason the wife thought we needed new windows. Hope I can hear the next KJR interview.
any link to the archive’d mp3 for today’s interview?
Way be be Dave, you’re sounding more and more comfortable as each week goes by.
Please keep reminding us of this appearance. It is the best thing on KJR.
