    200: 🙂

  2. George_Argyros_Lives on September 8th, 2007 6:54 pm

Is Ichiro fast enough to score 6 runs in one at-bat?

  3. George_Argyros_Lives on September 8th, 2007 6:55 pm

Guess it’s mail it in time. Good thing our
Solid Bullpen TM picked up our Resurgent
    Starting Pitching TM.

  4. WardP on September 8th, 2007 6:56 pm

CoolStandings had the M’s playoff chances at 2.8% before this debacle.. probably below 1% tomorrow. Such a shame..

  5. brian_sun on September 8th, 2007 6:56 pm

Why nobody complained Mac not pinch-hitting for Lopez at the top of 7th? It was a 2 run game with a slow runner at 1st. Why do they have Ben Broussard for? Mac PH for Lopez yesterday with Reed in that situation. Granted, Lopez hit a ground ball between the SS and 3B which normally should be a base hit, but with Joh running from 1B, it’s just a ground out. But in this case, you are one swing away from tieing the game. Why not have Broussard or Jeff Clement hit there?

  6. Ichy on September 8th, 2007 6:56 pm

I forgot what it was like to have your offense take a lead, get a quality start from your SP, bring your bullpen in the 7th, have Sherrill, Green and Morrow actually get guys out, then have JJ come in once the 9th came around.

This is sad. The last time I saw JJ, we were 20 games over 500 and 3 games up on the Yankees in the WC. ;(

  7. scott19 on September 8th, 2007 6:58 pm

Is it possible for CoolStandings to register negative readings on playoff chances, I wonder?

  8. Ichy on September 8th, 2007 6:58 pm

7 innings too late for Campillo

  9. George_Argyros_Lives on September 8th, 2007 6:58 pm

JJ – the loneliest job in the world the last two weeks.

  10. msb on September 8th, 2007 6:59 pm

and Michigan has been skunked twice since he had a meaningful inning…

  11. oNeiRiC232 on September 8th, 2007 7:00 pm

We’ve now 1-13 in the last 14 games.

How much worse does it have to get until the FO sours on McLaren?

  12. HamNasty on September 8th, 2007 7:00 pm

Nice 12-6 curve, wish I had been watching that the last two weeks. Wow.

  13. WardP on September 8th, 2007 7:02 pm

207: there is a trend-line graph.. the Ms’ curve over the last two weeks looks like Bob Hope’s nose..

  14. scott19 on September 8th, 2007 7:03 pm

205: I was kinda wondering myself why Ben Broussard has been on the roster all season — since, after all, he just doesn’t possess the same degree of that much-vaunted Veteran Goodness that Big Sucksy does.

  15. WardP on September 8th, 2007 7:03 pm

just what the Tigers needed.. an insurance run..

  16. scott19 on September 8th, 2007 7:04 pm

212: And, ironically, that IS the score now…

  17. Xteve X on September 8th, 2007 7:04 pm

and Pudge goes opposite field off Campillo … at least every pitcher the Ms have trotted out there so far has been consistent. Sigh.

  18. msb on September 8th, 2007 7:04 pm

so, at what point does Neihaus decide that hanging around waiting for the Ford Frick award won’t make up for having to call another decade of losing baseball?

  19. WardP on September 8th, 2007 7:04 pm

214: I think the proper comp might be Eduardo Perez, who is so embued with Veteran Goodness that he’s on Baseball Tonight.. 🙂

  20. HamNasty on September 8th, 2007 7:06 pm

Timo Perez just hit a triple off us for his 3rd hit of the night. You can now officially consider me clinically depressed, any chance McLaren pays for me medical visits? He did it to me.

  21. msb on September 8th, 2007 7:07 pm

what was Dave’s phrase for Campillo? Organizational fodder?

  22. argh on September 8th, 2007 7:07 pm

How many games might different managing and lineups have saved — realistically — over the last 14? Three or four perhaps? Anyway to put a sabre metric on it?

  23. msb on September 8th, 2007 7:08 pm

#219– Eduardo also has Baseball Heritage.

  24. argh on September 8th, 2007 7:08 pm

    He did it to me

    The bastard!.

  25. msb on September 8th, 2007 7:08 pm

    Yorman!

  26. HamNasty on September 8th, 2007 7:09 pm

    My man?? No, YORMAN!

  27. msb on September 8th, 2007 7:12 pm

so did Jeff Frazier do anything this year as the warm body they got for Yorman?

  28. HamNasty on September 8th, 2007 7:14 pm

Our orginizational fodder gives up home runs…

Tigers unknown random guy gets K, F8, 4-3.

  29. WardP on September 8th, 2007 7:14 pm

These games have me feeling like Bill Murray in Ground Hogs Day.. every day is always the same..

  30. scott19 on September 8th, 2007 7:15 pm

Gee, did we really need that Sleep Country factoid on Sexson’s five grand slams just now?

  31. Swungonandbelted on September 8th, 2007 7:15 pm

Wooo! Another game augered in by the M’s.

  32. jlc on September 8th, 2007 7:16 pm

Yeah, but Bill Murray had the ability to change his days. We’re passive participants, depending on the kindness of others.

  33. scott19 on September 8th, 2007 7:18 pm

These guys remind me of a major league team all right…

The Cleveland Indians in Major League!

(Er, wait, THEY at least won the WS…)

  34. cgmonk on September 8th, 2007 7:21 pm

    @233 scott19

Despite making it to the playoffs, it would be revealed in Major League II that they were swept in the American League Championship Series by the Chicago White Sox, who went on to win the World Series.

  35. WardP on September 8th, 2007 7:23 pm

232: what’s frustrating is the extent to which we can see it coming..

  36. Greg08 on September 8th, 2007 7:23 pm

ya Jeff Frazier was SOOO worth Yorman Bazardo

  37. msb on September 8th, 2007 7:26 pm

it was another blown call on Ichiro!??

did he argue this one, too?

  38. Swungonandbelted on September 8th, 2007 7:27 pm

Thank God that Football season starts tomorrow for the Hawks

  39. jlc on September 8th, 2007 10:45 pm

At coolstandings.com, they now have our wildcard odds at 1.0% What I think is really funny, though, is that we still have a 0.1% shot at the division title.

  40. katne123 on September 8th, 2007 10:53 pm

Dear Mariners: Please start firing, releasing, and trading players asap. Enough is enough

  41. Evan on September 8th, 2007 11:55 pm

The MLB headline for the game recap says the M’s couldn’t survive another bullpen meltdown.

But wait. Looking at the box score, we scored 6 runs, and our starting pitcher allowed 7 runs, so the contribution of the bullpen was completely irrelevant. Wasn’t it?
