Felix Day! Wheeee!

The M’s have a chance to win three in a row! Three in a row! Who cares if it’s against Tampa Bay — everyone likes wins. Go Felix!

Wore my Felix shirt just to help the Mojo today. Go Felix!
Felix day always makes me happy.
Even when the Mariners have the slightest of chances of making playoffs (0% in my opinion).
I wonder if there’s anything that could happen that would make me stop being a Mariners fan… We’ve had to put up with a lot of crap a lot of years. I guess as long as I have Felix day, I can still be a proud fan.
Shields goes for the Rays. Shields is a RHP. Adam Jones hits from the right side. Adam Jones is an unproven rookie who has yet to be in the wars. John McLaren is a dumbass.
Ergo, Adam Jones is prohibited from starting.
Can someone slip a note to Felix that we’d like him to get out of the first in under 20 pitches or so? Cuz maybe he’s just not thinking along those lines.
BTW #3…flawless syllogism.
Is it wrong that I keep thinking that if the M’s sweep the D-Rays and the Red Sox sweep the Yanks we will only be 2.5 out? I am just setting myself up for another fall.
#5…only in the fact that your “if” wasn’t big enuf.
I’m scared to wear my felix jersey… I received it on 8/25. I swear this hasn’t all been my fault.
I think we need to re-think “felix day”. How desperate are we naming a day after someone with a 4.17ERA and a .288 OPAA… How about happy Miguel day? (sigh)
What is your problem? Really? We can’t be excited to see Felix start? Go away.
T.G.I.F.
Thank God It’s Felix (day)!!
I feel like I’ve got MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder). One minute, six-year-old Josh surfaces and I’m cheering the M’s and hoping for pitchers to go 8 innings and veterans to hit the cover off the ball. Then, personality #2 called Tony comes out and I’m hoping for 15-2 shellacking (and a few broken legs) so we don’t have to put up with McLaren and Bavasi next year.
Can anyone give me professional help?
On any given Felix day you have a chance to see a 1-hitter or better. We have empirical evidence of that. I have no such anticipation on Miguel day. Well, unless it’s Miguel vs Johan (or Clay or Mark or Justin…)
Can anyone give me professional help?
I think the M’s ownership should just pay King County to have the fluoride in the tapwater replaced with Zoloft.
#11: I should prescribe you to a healthy dose of Terry Ryan/Chris Atonetti and Joe Girardi.
That might help, although I don’t know what the side effects are.
# 11 – Know what you mean.
I was happy to see Weaver get crushed yesterday so there won’t be any resign him talk.
Happy to see RR Smith do well.
Happy the team won however more losses might mean the firing of McLaren and/or Bavasi which would make me more happy. What a weird end of the year, really.
Why are we glad it’s Felix day? Because his xFIP is amazing and he’s a groundball/strikeout guy, the best kind of pitcher. Oh yeah, and he’s 21 and we like to see him improve.
Even when Felix is bad he’s still fun to watch. I like it when he throws his little temper tantrums. And at this point, it’s far less excrutiating when he has a bad outing.
1 – I’m going to wear my Felix shirt too to help the mojo.
Should Shields worry about getting elbows problems, seeing Felix’s two past opponents went down with elbow problems after getting shelled?
18- That’s just the power of Felix’s presence.
Well, we know the “wear Mariner blue” mojo didn’t work, so any of you guys who have a Felix shirt, it better be the home whites…
4.17 ERA = not really that bad. Not exceptional, but it’s not that terrible. Definitely not bad enough to warrant no longer being excited about a 21-year-old with absurd abilities.
.288 “OPAA” = assuming you mean OBA, Felix’s .348 BABIP and the not-so-stellar defense behind him might have something to do with that.
This is actually about last night’s game, although I think the “C’mon, play the kids a *little* bit, Mac!” topic is always relevant.
I’m a big Wladimier Balentien fan. (Nothing against AJ, DMZ, I like him too…)
At the game last night I was holding a sign that said “It’s WLAD’S WORLD – we just live in it.” The flip side was simply… “WHERE’S WLAD?”.
Right before the game got underway, I notice the players all pointing at it and laughing, including Wlad. To answer “WHERE’S WLAD”, Putz and Jones both took great pleasure in pointing down to the bench. I pointed the outfield. Wlad just put his hands up, laughed and shrugged helplessly. Then he, in an exaggerated motion, went right down from the railing and plopped himself on the bench and sat there.
Cut to: after the game. I’m waiting for my ride. I see people crowded around where the players drive out. The players drove out (man – three tricked-out Hummers in the first ten minutes!) Nobody was stopping, although everyone was circulating the rumor that “a few nights ago Raul stopped”. This powered everyone on. My sign, which I strung onto myself with a shoelace, still hung from me.
And then an SUV *did* stop for signing and photos. The window rolled down. Why it’s… the SKIPPER! How do, Mr. McLaren? As he posed for photos I stood right in front of him with my big WHERE’S WLAD?” sign. Every photo op had him looking up and smiling… right at my sign. I smiled and waved and gave him the thumbs up on a win.
He looked at my sign. He looked at me. He gunned it and sped off.
Good times!
On a completely unrelated note, every time Beltre gets a hit now, they show Red on the scoreboard. A couple of times they overlayed a whooping and jumping Red with A.B. taking his gloves off when he reached base successfully.
Not since Bucky has a folk hero risen so organically and captured the jumbotron and hearts of so many (except the people standing right behind him,, who looked like they wanted to have him ejected from their swanky section for Willful Overexhuberance and Supportive Leaping.
HoRam tomorrow! Maybe Mac will toss Wlad an inning if Ho tanks early and it’s non salvageable. Ahhh… probably not.
Guys, maybe this season has got me a bit pessimistic, I’m trying to get excited about felix day really I am. Just frustrated, I will have multiple beverages and re asses.
# 21 – I mean opponents batting average against, witch is .288 and should have be denoted as “BAA”, but still bad.
Wallingfjord: awesome.
I will have multiple beverages and re asses
re asses, I like that. How about this?
re: asses, McLaren is impressed by Jones’ pinch hit home run the other day, but still won’t play him because “his day will come.”

I don’t know if any of you caught the sports segment of KOMO4’s 11pm news, but Red was featured prominently. Also check out the pic today at Lookout Landing.
Seriously, the team should embrace the guy. I mean, Bill the Beerman is gone, it’s time for another hero to rise from the stands and carry the torch. They should get a video of Red dancing (better than this) and put it up on the scoreboard as the M’s rally rouser — whether he’s actually at the game or not. Screw the fries, screw the monkey, it’s Rally Red!
(BTW, Red had his Beltre bobblehead stolen by the guys next to him in the stands last night right after the game while he was down in the mob of fans by the dugout. Fortunately, a regular bobblehead and not the 3 foot one [which would be pretty hard to steal anyway]. Still, that sucks. LL has put out a hit on the two guys in question.)
when both were on the Groz&Gas-a-thon, the subject of rally fries was brought up to Dave Simms, and JJ wondered if they would deliver fries to the bullpen if he made Brandon stand up holding a sign…
23 & 25:
re asses: “We got behind the eight ball again right off the bat,” McLaren said. “It’s hard to explain. We seem to be throwing the ball good and then … it has happened to a couple of our starters. A good first inning and don’t know what happens in the second inning.”
Ummmm…the starting pitcher sucks?
#26. This is the first time I’ve seen a screen shot of Red. (yeah, really) The first thing I thought of when I saw that LL pic was some Planet of the Apes character. — http://images.allmoviephoto.com/2001_Planet_of_the_Apes/paul_giamatti_planet_of_the_apes_001.jpg I’m not trying to be mean, he IS a hairy dude…
#18 I suppose I should get rid of my Shields Voo Doo doll shouldn’t I?
#28 Umm, isn’t the manager paid to know what’s happening? We’ve been hearing that kind of crap all year long from McLaren, and he still doesn’t seem to know much about why things have gone wrong out there. McLaren’s day will come, soon I hope.
