Game 157, Mariners at Indians

DMZ · September 26, 2007 at 3:05 pm · Filed Under Game Threads

Sort of. 4:05, Safeco Field! First game of an actual, no-joke double header, folks. Wooooo! Beer sold all through the first game! Feierabend v Carmona! And the Indians are the home team, thus screwing up all kinds of Gameday-type features (Yahoo hasn’t been able to figure it out yet, for one). And future studies on home field advantage. Possibly park effect calculations. Good times.

Seriously, though, this is bargain baseball. Don’t miss it.

I’d settle for “Degrassi Junior High” reruns.

  2. msb on September 26th, 2007 5:42 pm

I’m not sure Niehaus thinks that it was such a good thing that Hargrove got that game stopped in the snow-out in Cleveland after all.

  3. Thom Jimsen on September 26th, 2007 5:46 pm

It could be worse … we could have Shin-Soo Choo and Asdrubal Cabrera pounding the crap out of the M’s ….

  4. HamNasty on September 26th, 2007 5:50 pm

53- Thats game 2 if you want to stick around.

  5. jlc on September 26th, 2007 5:53 pm

I watched Ichiro in the first, then left to get some things done and just came back. Don’t really want to know all the gruesome details, the pattern is familiar. This is going to be an awfully long night.

  6. msb on September 26th, 2007 5:53 pm

if Ichiro could face our pitching staff, he’d be soooo ahead of Ordonez by now.

  7. msb on September 26th, 2007 5:58 pm

    I’d settle for Beachcomber reruns.

    Or ZigZag.

  8. G-Man on September 26th, 2007 6:06 pm

The youth have been unleashed. They must feel like the last guys on the bench on a basketball team that only get to play in garbage time.

  9. Thom Jimsen on September 26th, 2007 6:09 pm

Why not “King Of Kensington”? Or “The Edison Twins”? Or a good “Corner Gas” marathon? You can’t beat made-in-Saskatchewan TV comedy ….

  10. Thom Jimsen on September 26th, 2007 6:10 pm

Bloomquist and Lopez. Those damn kids.

  11. jlc on September 26th, 2007 6:10 pm

For everyone (that’s in general, not on this blog) who says you can’t pitch inside anymore because you get in trouble if you hit someone, I give you Weaver and Campillo.

  12. Thom Jimsen on September 26th, 2007 6:11 pm

    Parrish the thought!

  13. G-Man on September 26th, 2007 6:12 pm

Parrish is going to have someone point him toward the mound, because he’s certainly forgotten where it is.

  14. Thom Jimsen on September 26th, 2007 6:15 pm

You know, there’s really a fair chance that Bloomquist could toss an inning tonight. (Unlike the way he tossed the last inning, I mean.)

  15. JR Ewing on September 26th, 2007 6:15 pm

    campillo injury is disgusting . . .

  16. Thom Jimsen on September 26th, 2007 6:16 pm

It’s a beautiful day for baseball … let’s flay two!

  17. _David_ on September 26th, 2007 6:18 pm

    what happend to Campillo?

  18. msb on September 26th, 2007 6:19 pm

and so, with Parrish in, the white flag is officially raised for this game.

hmm, hmmm, hmmmm, the king of kensington … whatta guy

  19. msb on September 26th, 2007 6:20 pm

    #67– comebacker hit his arm

  20. jlc on September 26th, 2007 6:22 pm

At this point, I’m almost looking forward to watching Dancing with the Stars to find out how Dave’s cousin did. And more importantly for me (as a woman and race car fan), how Helio Castroneves did. I’m not sure I can actually bring myself to turn it on, but the fact that it’s a viable option over a double header is so, so sad.

  21. msb on September 26th, 2007 6:22 pm

hey! we got our wish! they are playing the kids!

  22. jlc on September 26th, 2007 6:23 pm

Thank heavens he hasn’t been able to play!

  23. HamNasty on September 26th, 2007 6:23 pm

Wlad is obviously awful, I hope we sit him for more veteran grit.

  24. FrayLo on September 26th, 2007 6:24 pm

McLaren: “Just so everyone has this clear, we will NOT be starting ‘the kids.’ We need to keep the gritty vet’rns out there who know how to play the game. Despite Wlad’s HR.”

  25. Thom Jimsen on September 26th, 2007 6:25 pm

That dinger reminds me of Luis Ugueto’s one and only Mariner home run … a 30-rows-back bomb in what had been a 16-1 rout of the Mariners in Anaheim in the last week of play in 2002. I was there, two sections removed.

  26. Thom Jimsen on September 26th, 2007 6:27 pm

We’re officially at the point today where the M’s are pulling out their Johnson and exposing it to the crowd.

  27. HamNasty on September 26th, 2007 6:29 pm

We could return that 12 run come from behind victory right now. I would love to do it with a bunch of AAA guys.

  28. Thom Jimsen on September 26th, 2007 6:30 pm

It would be a chance to avenge that 2000 game in which the M’s were ahead 14-0 and lost 15-14.

  29. Thom Jimsen on September 26th, 2007 6:30 pm

    To Cleveland, yet.

  30. msb on September 26th, 2007 6:30 pm

#70– I have to admit I did the channel toggle thing on monday; the intro gimmick for her was that she was lovely … and uncoordinated.

  31. msb on September 26th, 2007 6:32 pm

what are the odds on a WIllie B DP?

  32. JR Ewing on September 26th, 2007 6:32 pm

67, 69, looked broken, something was poking pretty good on his skin, a lump 2-3 inches in diameter. could barely see it. but the reaction of chavez kind of sold the ugliness.

  33. Thom Jimsen on September 26th, 2007 6:33 pm

About the same as Willie whiffing on a ball.

  34. Thom Jimsen on September 26th, 2007 6:34 pm

    Was that a phantom force?

  35. HamNasty on September 26th, 2007 6:34 pm

    Or not…

  36. msb on September 26th, 2007 6:36 pm

so, maybe not the 12 run comeback.

  37. msb on September 26th, 2007 6:37 pm

I forgot Delucci was with the Indians

  38. Red Apple on September 26th, 2007 6:44 pm

I’m surprised Carmona has given up 3 runs. I’m equally not surprised that he hasn’t walked a soul.

  39. msb on September 26th, 2007 6:47 pm

Rizzs just mentioned that the M’s found out before the game that 20-year clubhouse guy Rob Reagle died overnight

  40. msb on September 26th, 2007 6:48 pm

sheesh, the ushers will be spending all night running out to the stands to retrieve baseballs for the first-timers

  41. jlc on September 26th, 2007 6:49 pm

It really is fun to see these guys get their firsts. Much more enjoyable than watching the regulars get blown out.

  42. msb on September 26th, 2007 7:54 pm

gosh, I hope that run (once again) taken away from Ichiro doesn’t matter.
