Open call for sim help

Hey, if anyone knows how to fairly easily automate the running of a ton of seasons in DMB for Mariner-related analysis, can you drop us a line? I’m interested in doing some more work on the team, lineups, and related good stuff, but it’s such a pain to run seasons manually that I’m unlikely to do it unless it can be automated or someone wants to pay me a ton of money for the time and effort.
Sent an email as well, but figured this was worth an open discussion for those who are interested in doing the same thing. How are you currently simming seasons manually? If there isn’t a program out there to do what you’re looking for, I’m sure one of us can script an automated solution using your manual process.
Have you tried DMB AutoSim? http://www.geocities.com/dpyke/dmb/
Are you looking for a way to automate organization changes when using DMB Autosim?
I have not used it, sorry if this is a dumb post.

SG on BBThinkFactory created this to run the season 100 times. He just posted the link and I won’t be home for a hour and a half or more to try it.
I’m working on RunDMB now. Looks promising.
Keeps bombing. Shoot.
I’m having trouble even getting DMB to recognize the zips file. I follow the directions and it keeps saying: “Unable To Build Database Indexes”.
I have my own simulator, probably somewhat similar to the DMB game. It has advanced sabermetric algorithms similar to what you’d find at the SBS Baseball Simulator. I have ran some seasonal sims for the Mariners with 2008 ZIPS Projections and using their 2008 schedule. I’ve only ran 8 seasons so far the average wins are 78.9 and average losses are 83.1 with a standard deviation of 6.56. High wins is 90, low wins is 73. It only plays the games for one team, so you don’t see a complete league standings just a record for the team you are simulating. It uses a 5 man rotation and skips the 5th starter around off days. It uses the same starter from the opposing team (as in #3 starter vs #3 starter). I have Jones still on the Ms in this sim. If I could get projections for Jones on BAL and Bedard on SEA I could see the difference in wins.

Teams don’t skip their #5 in practice, though.
In the beginning of the season #5s tend to get skipped based on days off, plus #5s tend to make less starts for that and other reasons.

No, they don’t. The M’s never skip their #5 starter.
Ok, sounds good. Go Ms. 🙂
