Amazingly deep analysis
A couple of hours after the game, I’m still happy I got to see the M’s beat the Angels.

I agree totally, but it doesn’t give me warm fuzzies about tomorrow. Raul runs are great, I’ll take ’em, but I need more Yuni smiles.
Great great game to be at. A good win against a division rival that you have to sweat is good times all around.
Was a very good game to be at. King Felix didn’t exert his kinship like he should’ve, but fortunately the offense pulled through to get Felix a W. And topped it off with some Dick’s burgers afterwards.
An odd game, indeed…strangeness on the basepaths as well as on “D”. Not to mention, probably the toughest of the King’s three starts thus far…
Still, we gut it out against the hated Angels and get a win. Gotta love karma! 🙂
I actually thought Felix did good to not get too frustrated and stayed with the game and was happy the offense came through and got him the win.
The power of ponies WILL NOT BE DENIED.
holy crap! a deep analysis post I can follow!!
thanks.
deep analysis aside, I just enjoyed the game. Having felix gift-wrap 3 consecutive strikeouts to Vlad was just fun. I hope we can keep on the right side of “that’s the way the ball bounces” and take this series.
BTW, where’s the “This comment might, I think be free of spelling errors” submit button?? c’mon! 😉
Wow, if the playoffs were today, you’d have the Red Sox, Tigers, and Mariners, with the Indians in the wild card IF you counted from the bottom of the standings.
Raul crushed those homers!
HHMMM!!!
Dicks deluxe, fries and vanilla shake…
I was sure that third one wouldn’t happen…
Yeah, I don’t know. Only 29,000 fans for a huge series opener had me sour to start the night. Then, during two high leverage situations, people were doing the wave. Luckily, I was in the front row of a suite, so I didn’t have anyone in my way.
As far as just the baseball goes, it was a great time and good game.
Love the FOX logo. Nice touch.
I think I watched Felix striking out Vlad on my Tivo last night about 26 times.
They played pretty ugly and still got the with without Putz. Nice to see the bats alive again. I wish they would let Wilk keep swinging away instead of sacrificing. Joh walking, Sexson walking, Jose Lopez and his new plate approach all make me a happy man. M’s are 1st in walks and 10th in OBP, which will come around once Joh and Wilk and Turbo get their BA’s out of the cellar.
And that is my series of morning short choppy non-flowing sentences.
Last night’s game was a huge example of why we study fielding independent pitching.
The homeruns? All pitchers.
The defensive miscues? Not the pitchers.
The Aybar webgem saving someone’s buttocks? Not the pitchers.
It was a DIPS game extraordinaire!
Aybar’s webgem was probably the best example OMFG acronym.
Also would it be in the Mariners best interest to make a trade for Johnny Gomes or Eric Hinske? Would they be better options then Brad Wilkerson?
More than a little sloppy, but the game had everything. Dingers, key strike-outs, crazy baserunning decisions (bunting over Richie Sexson!? Really!?), at least one fantastic defensive play (by the Angels, unfortunately), some ugly, ugly errors (by the M’s, unfortunately), a couple of great almost-catches (one by Felix, notably) and both sides scoring see-saw fashion, with Felix’s Win/No Decision hanging in the balance just about every inning. Despite the blunders, it was a fun game to watch (less fun if the M’s hadn’t been ahead in most innings, of course).
Small sample size and all, but the records of Sexson and Ibanez vs Weaver are quite the contrast. Weaver is unquestionably Ibanez’ bitch.
And now we have a beautiful sunny day, which means I have absolutely no excuse to remain indoors and sully myself watching the first of Fox’s every-other-Saturday BoSox/Yankees game.
Can I just say “THANK GOD!!!” to the ‘pen coming through again. I hate to admit it, but I was tempted to change the channel when Lowe had the Angels with one out and men on 2nd and 3rd. Great job.
This may have been the worst defensive game I have ever seen played my the M’s. Don’t get me wrong, I was thrilled with the win, but watching the Sexson error, the Sexson play where he barely dove to his right and missed a grounder, Green’s throw to Lopez and Lopez’ pathetic effort to save that throw, Lopez going to his left and missing a very makable play, and Raul having no wheels to track down at least one of those fly balls to left. I am sure I am missing a few. That being said I loved Felix. He had his ups and downs, but really battled. Also enjoyed the hitting clinic put on by Raul. Question: why did J. Mac choose to pinch run Cairo rather than WFB? Willie has better wheels and plays a better first base. Thanks for letting me vent.
And people say that you’re not a ‘real fan’.
More veterany goodness from Cairo maybe? That, and Cairo hadn’t seen much action, I suppose. How would it look if you signed Cairo and then didn’t play him? It would look like you wasted a roster spot, that’s how it would look.
Oh, and Cairo played first after he pinch ran. I’m not sure who plays a better first, Cairo or WFB.

Willie is home with the flu. Doctors have said he shouldn’t come to the park until it’s no longer contagious.
That the Ms should have their season’s high in runs scored against the Angels of all people!
Wow !
