I’m on KJR at 3:35 pm with Groz. I’m sure the interview will be full of optimism and brightness, because this team is awesome.
If msb made a dime every time he refreshed the page at USSM, he’d be a very wealthy man.
Kick ass and take names, Dave.

looking forward to listening…
“I look at it, and I just don’t understand it,” McLaren said. “I really don’t. The only scenario that could be worse than what’s going on right now is if we didn’t prepare and we didn’t play hard. If that was the case, it would be unbearable.”
so now he’s telling us that the players are playing hard, if how there playing right now is the definition of playing hard, i wonder how much we will lose by a night when they decide not to “play hard”

That’s a real McClaren quote? That is hilarious and sad at the same time. Well let’s hope the M’s keep preparing and playing hard–otherwise they might not win as much.

Wow, Mclaren doesn’t think we’ve hit rock bottom yet. That there’s still territory even further into the abyss that we haven’t explored.
He’s just said himself what USSM/LL have been saying all along: That this team just isn’t good and doesn’t have enough talent. Because if they’re preparing, trying hard and still not playing well, there’s really only one explanation left — all the preparation in the world isn’t going to overcome a lack of ability.

To steal a line from that San Diego sportswriter’s great column on the impacting of the Chargers drafting Ryan Leaf, the Mariners front office should just say: “We decided we’re not going to play the game tonight. We forfeit. This season’s over. Now we are going to go burn down Safeco Field. Thank you. Good night.”

For some reason KJR’s “listen live” feature won’t fire for me today. Anyone willing to post the gist of Dave’s comments once he goes on the air?

Do you get stuck on “loading content”? because that is where I am.

Washburn/Batista actually have worse numbers than HoRam/Weaver last year. That is depressing.
I didn’t realize that either. Now I feel worse about this season. Oh well, I’ll still be at the game on Monday….Depending on what happens this weekend in NY you’ll probably see someone wearing a bag on his head at the game on Monday. I’m dead serious.
I’d be curious what we could get for JJ … there might be an overly ridiculous package out there.

Bill Krueger’s Keys to The Game include “Everybody Grab An Oar”
I think a lifejacket would be more appropriate.

BB: “Gee, Mac, I just don’t understand it.”
Mac: “I don’t get it either, Bill. The players are working hard and preparing, and boy do we stink.”
BB: “I wonder why the team I carefully assembled is doing so poorly. Wait, could it be?”
Mac: “What, boss?”
BB: “Could it be that everything I have learned in my whole life about talent evaluation is wrong? That it is all just a bunch of platitudes and myths?”
Mac: “What??”
BB: “Naah…”
Mac: “Good one, Boss. You had me going there for a moment.”
The Wilsons said last year they were doing it ‘for a year’, but it was never said just *why* the NE. I don’t think it is family, as I believe both sets of parents still live in Illinois …

dave: be sure and give me a shout out.
It sounds like McLaren is boldly (read: stupidly) going where no sane manager would dare to go…
Although expanding on his definition of the word “hard”, I will admit that this team has been hard to watch.
Good to see that the reduction in Groz’s on air time isn’t impacting your segments, Dave.
You all should be thankful for McLaren’s quote.

I’d LOVE to see Groz batting third. He couldn’t be any worse than Vidro…

Uh…why the fuck is Turbo hitting 3rd?
Where else would Mac put his professional hitter?
Uh…why the fuck is Turbo hitting 3rd?
Because McLaren’s filling out the lineup card.
At this point in time last year, HoRam was still the “undefeatable at home” wonder, wasn’t he?
“The threat of being fooled by small sample size” was still in place last year.
Realizing that you’ve been sold a bill of goods labeled “No, seriously, we have five quality starting pitchers”–priceless, every year we buy into it.
that’s why, you unbeliever.
Yeah…but … “Two out. Why bother?”
Hey, did we just have a 1-2-3 first inning?
Bedard’s curve ball looks great right now.
Wait, the Yankees didn’t score 5 runs in the first inning?
We have a chance!
Is this sufficing as the game thread?
Anyone have a link to Dave’s spot on KJR? I’d love to hear it.
Who is Dave talking to?
Dan Wilson.
Why is Dan Wilson living in the Northeast?
The Wilsons said last year they were doing it ‘for a year’, but it was never said just *why* the NE. I don’t think it is family, as I believe both sets of parents still live in Illinois …
