Well, we won.
For whatever its worth at this point.
so any one know what that odd chant was during the last out of the ninth?
Everybody Get Up.
There’s a song, there’s a scoreboard sign, there’s instructions telling the fans what to do.
Looks like they’re trying to ween us off of Kernkraft 400.
We won now I have to root for our “natural rivals” the dreaded Padres to win to stay some what even with us as we see who is first to last place.
huh. now, is that something new, or is it just that it’s been so long since I’ve been to a game where Everyone Should Get Up, that I’ve missed it …
Harry Canary and Nomar Garciaparrot just showed up at the televised Beavers-Rainiers game. Oh, the pain.
If only Jeff Sullivan were there to defend the fans!
Padres won. Yes! Some guy named C Beck went 6 innings gave up 2 hits no ER and struck out 7. Who is that guy?
I’m holding out for the return of Mr Blister, the Northwest Burn Foundation mascot.
Am I the only one who was pissed to see the new Sports Illustrated cover?
I was happy for the local guy, but pissed that the Mariners passed. Maybe the Padres will out-suck the Mariners and then pass on Strasburg. Doubt it.
I swear to God, if I have to protect one more section from another overzealous inflatable mascot…
I think he was traded for a top prospect, a proven reliever and three good pitching prospects. Oh, wait, no, he was traded for a bag of balls and some used adhesive tape. My bad, I was mixing him up with someone else.
I think your first line is the relevant one
That SDSU add on the left bar is ominous…
We will get Strasburg.
Adam Jones is batting .336 since June 1…..
I know this may come off as a stupid question, but wouldn’t it be a good idea to hang on to Bedard, since we’re likely to get so little?
Could we some how sign him for an extension. I mean, he does have a pretty good record, and maybe the number of pitches he is able to throw will increase….
Can we just kick Bravsi in the goo goo berries for putting us in this sitiation?
The M’s must hang onto Bedard for he is the Second Ace(tm) behind Felix.
Granted, Bedard is injury prone and doesn’t like to throw past 100 pitches, but he is a Second Ace, as mentioned above.
Thanks Bavasi!
First off I’m glad to see Dave and DMZ taking a much deserved break (no threads other than games) this weekend after the wild ride that June was.
but wouldn’t it be a good idea to hang on to Bedard, since we’re likely to get so little?
Not sure why you think we’d get so little for him. I don’t think we’ll get Jones, Sherill, and more, but his value seems highest today as it will be. Every team in playoff contention could use a solid starting pitcher and if 2 wins gets you from 50% chance of playoffs to 75% chance, it’s worth paying a big price. Plus you’d get Bedard for another year.
As for an extension, you really want more of Bedard 🙂 I don’t see any reason he’d sign a discounted deal with the Mariners and signing him to a Zito-like deal doesn’t help us.
Jeff at LL bring up some very good points on why we should keep Bedard. Contrary to popular belief, this team doesn’t necessarily have to tear down and go into a 5-year rebuild; it is very possible to retool and contend in ’09 with the right moves, and Bedard is an important part of that.
I’d love to hang onto Bedard because I think people are much more down on him than is justified…
But this team is dying for offense, and I think if there’s an opportunity to get a young impact bat or two for him, you have to go for it.
The end is nigh, Ibanez just threw someone out at home.
