Maybe he can hit a grand slam and strike out the Indians every at bat so it can be literally a one man team…

  2. matt1980 on August 29th, 2008 3:43 pm

maybe we can field 3 guys, beltre at third, ichiro can play outfield and 1st base so for the 1 or 2 times felix does not strike out, well be covered

To be honest, I’m not sure if the Ms’ production actually would have suffered batting Felix, Bedard, Silva et al. at 9 compared to Vidro batting fourth.

Because of the playing time disparity, we’d need a rate stat anyway.

  6. Paul B on August 29th, 2008 4:07 pm

    rain delay

    Update at 4:28 PM PDT.

Thunderstorms right now in Cleveland delaying the start. Yet more fuel for Ichiro’s already low opinion of the city.

  9. Slurve on August 29th, 2008 4:10 pm

Oh yes I love a rainy night.

You know i was joking right about the Felix thing…

  12. Breadbaker on August 29th, 2008 4:35 pm

I think we can be fairly sure that if all three games in Cleveland get rained out, they won’t have to be made up at the end of the season because of their effect on the pennant races.

Haven’t you heard? Ichiro likes Cleveland now – he bought cool sneakers there.

Can someone give an update on what’s going on with the rain? I’m watching from the internet no way to tell.

  15. msb on August 29th, 2008 4:45 pm

    so, Victor Martinez is back.

    if the rain stops, mind.

  16. Evan on August 29th, 2008 4:47 pm

MLB.com says they’re warming up, now (it would normally say DELAY if it were still raining).

  17. killer_ewok18 on August 29th, 2008 4:49 pm

Then it was snow, now it’s rain. What’s next?

  18. PeterCampbell on August 29th, 2008 4:50 pm

The video still says “in a rain delay?”

  19. skitrex on August 29th, 2008 4:56 pm

Saturday’s game will not be broadcast on TV by Fox, they decided to drop the game. Radio only.

  20. msb on August 29th, 2008 4:58 pm

well, Sims & Rizzs have started nattering on radio …

  21. msb on August 29th, 2008 5:23 pm

have I mentioned in the last week or so that I love Adrian?

  22. EastCoastMsFan on August 29th, 2008 5:23 pm

    Beltre’d!

  23. PeterCampbell on August 29th, 2008 5:23 pm

    BELTRE

  24. MedicineHat on August 29th, 2008 5:27 pm

Too bad they didn’t decide to skip Monday’s TV broadcast. It save us all from tuning in to watch the Carlos Silva return of the train wreck.

  25. joser on August 29th, 2008 5:42 pm

This game is turning into a brilliant example of how defense can make a good pitcher look even better.

  26. msb on August 29th, 2008 5:49 pm

well, Raul is making the most of his walk-year

  27. EastCoastMsFan on August 29th, 2008 5:49 pm

Man, Raul is sure earning a lot of U’s this month.

  28. Paul B on August 29th, 2008 5:52 pm

I thought Beltre was safe at third.

  29. EastCoastMsFan on August 29th, 2008 5:55 pm

    Looked safe to me.

  30. joser on August 29th, 2008 5:57 pm

    Giving Ichiro’s arm some respect.

  31. edgar for mayor on August 29th, 2008 6:00 pm

Beltre…screwed the past 3 games by unfriendly, tall left feild walls.

  32. Paul B on August 29th, 2008 6:12 pm

If you were going to put Cairo in the lineup for his glove, wouldn’t you put him at second and move Lopez to first?

  33. Paul B on August 29th, 2008 6:16 pm

Too bad the M’s leftfielder can’t jump.

“Good effort by Raul” is all the announcers can say.

  34. Bremerton guy on August 29th, 2008 6:28 pm

Choo has a higher OPS than any Mariner regular. And he plays left field. Ouch.

  35. JR Ewing on August 29th, 2008 6:44 pm

    31. Didn’t affect Ibanez’s HR.

  36. edgar for mayor on August 29th, 2008 6:47 pm

aaaaaaand Felix is not rewarded for throwing his breaing stuff.

  37. edgar for mayor on August 29th, 2008 7:25 pm

Have the TV guys been reading the sight?

  38. Marihawks on August 29th, 2008 8:05 pm

wow. what a great play to end the game. maybe JJ’s arm is here to stay, great win boys

  39. killer_ewok18 on August 29th, 2008 8:11 pm

The M’s will now have to go 12-16 the rest of the way to finish with (only) 99 losses. I know it really isn’t important, but… Thoughts? Can they do it?

  40. Marihawks on August 29th, 2008 8:14 pm

I think its extremly important. for a season that hasn’t had any goals accomplished i think you gotta start somewhere. It would be great if we didn’t go 100 million/100 losses. I’ll be cheering along hoping we stay below that century mark.

  41. edgar for mayor on August 29th, 2008 8:18 pm

    38-

    I hope not.

  42. lokiforever on August 29th, 2008 8:21 pm

Can the M’s save face and reach only 99 Losses? 8 of the 28 remaining are against the Angels, who may be resting their regulars last week of September. They should win 7 or 8 out of the 15 games against the A’s, Royals, and Rangers.

    It’s possible. That’s what I’m routing for, 99 losses.
