Merry Christmas, dear readers
It’s pouring snow at my house again. I remember when Seattle was known for rain. Those were good days.
For Christmas I’d love to receive the presentation Zduriencik gave to the M’s during the interview process.
What do you want in the way of M’s-related gifts today?
Or USSM-related gifts for that matter? Nice mobile-friendly layout?
Personally, I’ve never been able to bring myself to buy another M’s jersey (since I already have a couple and they’re expensive), but I’ve wanted a nice Ichiro jersey for years, being a (entirely reasonable) fanboy for so long.

Easy, 3 words.
World Series Championship.
Three more words.

I need to get a M’s jersey but Ichiro and Felix are too popular, Beltre is probably gone after ’09, Yuni… well, I’ll just leave it at that. Maybe a Clement jersey. I was pretty damn close to getting an Adam Jones jersey last year and we all know how that turned out.
Some USSM shirts would be cool as well.
If Morrow had thrown that no hitter I would have purchased a jersey the next day.
How about a Mariners themed snow shovel? I cleared out my driveway yesterday with a fireplace tool…
I want to be excited that the M’s are on TV on some summer evening when I’ve had a tough day at the office and the kids are busy enough for me to sit down and listen to Dave poetically put it all in perspective for me. That would be plenty.
Oh, and Portland is in Full Melt mode at this point. Merry Christmas!
When I was in High School we had to do an assignment on a career we wanted to go into. A buddy of mine and I did our project on being a professional ball player. One of my teachers was good friends with Dave Heaverlo and she got him to set up an interview with Jay Buhner. Tino Martinez was also supposed to be there, but he cancelled at the last minute. We recorded the conversation, but I lost the tape. I would love to have that tape back for Christmas.
Good to hear Portland is in full melt mode, I am about 40 miles North, so hopefully it will melt here.
I’ve always wanted something Doyle-related … something official, meaning he would have played a full season, and played well.
Glad tidings from UW Atmospheric Sciences Professor Cliff Mass’ blog this morning:
“I sit here, watching large snowflakes fall in the darkness outside my window. This is the last snow day in the lowlands for a while I suspect.”
Mobile friendly layout would be nice!! It’s an awfully big page to load as-is.
I got an Adam Jones (O’s) jersey last year, but I want a Morrow one now, too.
I could use some gorgeous afternoons this summer, and a team that doesn’t appear so listless. And a win for my new kid’s first-ever MLB game.
I want the M’s to sign Doyle to be the DH in Tacoma, see how the knee holds up.
I want to know if Reegie Corona is any better than Oswaldo Navarro.
I wish for the sweet swing of Jon Olerud, the extraordinary, for a 2b, pop of Booner, the goofy facial hair of Buhner, the acrobatics of Mike Cameron, the pipsqueak voice of Edgar, and the turtle speed of Dan the man.
I’ll be that excited about a team again some day! Maybe 2010?
someone want to give me a mobile to test out a new mobile-friendly layout?
Sure, Derek. Entirely reasonable. 😉
Merry Christmas to all my fellow USSM’ers. I second some USSM shirts. That’d be great.
I dunno, I think we’ve already been given some fairly generous gifts so far. The whole “GM that doesn’t suck” thing.
I’ll second Derek’s first request — I’d love to know what all Zduriencik had to say to our ownership in those interviews. Granted, we can get an idea from the moves he’s made so far, but the more info, the better.
GRIFFEY!
… Announces retirement. Signs one day contract w/Seattle. M’s hold big retirement ceremony at SAFECO on opening day. Edgar, Jay, Dan – they are all there. Jersey #24 is officially retired.
Two best things about this:
– Junior retires as a Mariner.
– Ends all speculation about him playing with M’s again. Woo hoo!
I’ll take Manny in a DH/LF slot, a complete season from Bedard, and some rally fries.
A slugging left-handed outfielder who can scamper. Or if daddy can’t afford that, a slugging lefty first baseman. And a pony.
The 2001 All Star Patch and 100th AL Anniversary Patch
Ichiro Jersey is on E-Bay. Would that be of interest? Are those
jerseys actually authentic?
I’d like a line up that won’t put me in danger of missing our entire half inning of batting when I go to do something in the other room for a minute or two. (Even when we get a guy on base). No more five pitch innings which include a first pitch DP please!
I’d also like a special Mariner potion I could drink to convince me I’m not getting old. When one remembers listening to the radio as a little kid to the likes of Julio & Todd Cruz, Richie Zisk and even Paciorek, it would take some powerful stuff to feel young again!
A new M’s jersey would be nice, but like another poster stated, its hard to get behind a guy besides maybe Ichiro.
I would settle for an entertaining product to be put on the field this year. I’m hopeful for the future, but not terribly optimistic for the present.
I want a Niehaus Jersey.
If I could have one m’s gift…Kenji Johjima – Comeback player of the year.
I like the Zduriencik jersey idea, since he’s the best thing to happen to this franchise in a long, long time. A Neihaus jersey would be cool s well. (Jerseys of the GM and broadcaster instead of the players, such is the state of the franchise.) Beyond that, a DH who can hit and not clog the basepaths and a left fielder who can catch flyballs and line drives as well as hit.
Remember last year at this time when we were counting the days since the last dumb Mariner move? I’d like to keep the count up from the day Zduriencik was hired and let the number climb, and climb, and climb. Four figures at least.
you know the RaUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUl guys?
well, at some point this summer, I’d like to see Z-D-U-R-I-E-N-C-I-K spelled out on some chests.
or W-A-K-A-M-A-T-S-U
or V-A-N-B-U-R-K-L-E-O
or B-L-E-N-G-I-N-O
heck, even a Y-U-N-I-E-S-K-Y for old times sake.
Best part about this is a few guys could get out of order and a lot of people wouldn’t even notice.
Happy Holidays all!
Being a fan of all sports Seattle, what I really want for Christmas is to NEVER go through a year like 2008 again.
At the beginning of 2008, I didn’t have a gray hair on my head. Now, I have at least twelve.
Coincidence? I think not.
But, a favorite M’s-themed gift? Oh, easy. I want a Mariners jersey of my own, but.. Man, it’s tough to get the scratch going for it. Every time I get close and the thought is there, bam! comes a new unforseen bill or circumstance.
All I want for Christmas is the will to work out enough so that my “Doyle” jersey fits me should I make it to an M’s game next year.
I’d like (really) a Ryan Rowland-Smith jersey. What would be better than to have that name going on on your back.
Also, I’d like some good pitching.
And for Rick Rizzs to retire.
And for Miguel Cairo to have a career year.
I would like to see Felix Hernandez throw a no-hitter on opening day. Then a Bedard perfect game to win the World Series.
This is super late, and maybe no one will see it.
BUT.. I got an autographed Felix ball for Christmas.
Huzzah!
