M’s and Nintendo expand Fan Network features

I’m a big fan of what Nintendo’s attempts with the Fan Network. My expectations aren’t that high, and I’m a little concerned about having fans at the games watching tiny LCDs instead of the event before them. But man, some of the stuff they’re fooling around with is really, really cool. Check out this Kotaku write-up.

    They did promo during one of the games the other day. It was just Sims (if I remember correctly) reading the info, but I was intrigued by how you could check them out for free at a Nintendo kiosk. Sounded cool to me. Thanks for this link.

    Looks like the service is going to be free this year; in that case, I might actually give it a try next time I’m at a game.

    I would be a little more excited if the iPhone didn’t already have most of those features anyway. Live MLB At Bat 2009 gives a full gamecast with pitch velocity and break information and everything.

    I am still waiting for the Mariners to offer their free Wii promotion.

    The turnout for that promotion would be insane. It would be like a crazed Black Thursday after Thanksgiving.

    I was a big fan of this last year, and highly recommend it to anyone who will listen. My favorite part was the pitch tracker, particularly when Felix is pitching. And the telecast is surprisingly fun too. It is on a couple second delay, so if you have it running you can glance down after a pitch and see just how close it was. Only ordered food once – it works fine, but only for the general food (no Porter’s BBQ).
    My main suggestion – remember to charge your battery before the game.

    This is pretty awesome, and I’m surprised there aren’t more teams doing something like this with the iPhone. Now I’m really glad I just bought a DS.
