   Got my tooth filled quickly enough to catch the last couple of innings. Er, not in the sense that Johjima will, of course. Although I’m always prepared should the Mariners need me. Hopefully fear of the ball won’t be a problem.

   Is that why you needed the tooth filled in the first place?

   Locked myself out, had to wait for a neighbor to get home for a passkey, got in at the 9th inning, thought, oh, at least the game’s still going on and Silva didn’t serve it up with a side of fries.

   And my dreams came true. Humiliating loss for Angels, and M’s win!!

   But Frankie? The earflaps? Oh dear. Was he wearing that hat in the outfield?

    Uh, I understand that he wants to win, desperately. He just can’t do it well or consistently. That’s why we don’t want to see him pitch.

    Actually I’m a huge fan of winning on an error. More exciting than a homer any day.

    last year, if they’d got a win on a throw-away, it felt like a gift; this year, for some reason, it felt more like they were taking advantage of an error, if that makes sense…

    Cool if the first home game could end with a walk-off homer in extra innings against LAA.

    How about a bunt+error. About as far from a walk-off HR as you can get, but still an awesome win. And arguably more humiliating for the Shields, and the Angels.

    Yes, with sunglasses.

    I want that hat. That’s the baseball hat that might persuade me to wear a baseball hat outside of Safeco Field. That’s a baseball hat suited for this town. Can you get those anywhere? I always missed the unique Pirates pillbox when they got rid of it; it’s time for another team to step up. Earflaps for everybody! Standard M’s home uniform!

    I miss Boonie’s muffler, that is, knit hat with hole through it. That coulda been official.

    It really just feels like the team expects to win. I know that line of thinking isn’t quantifiable or extremely productive, but I guess that’s what I love about baseball. Sometimes feel is important.

    My favorite part was when Niehaus thought Gutierrez was moving out to play near the fence in deep left-center, then realized he was only going out to retrieve something that had fallen on the field.

    My boss wears something like that baseball cap with earflaps. I’ll have to ask him where he gets it.

    I like the idea of different teams choosing gear that matches their locale. Earflaps for all, indeed!

    My favorite part was when Johjima got whacked a third time by a foul ball off Hunter. I’m convinced one of the replays showed Kenji flipping Hunter the bird. With a smile on his face, of course, which made Hunter smile big too. Did anyone else see this?

    Heh; yeah, the guys on Sportscenter really thought that bit with Hunter and Kenji was funny. Slo-mo replays of each shot to the face.
