Game 31, Mariners at Twins

Hernandez vs Liriano, 4:10 pm.
Happy Felix Day! No, seriously, we need a happy Felix day more than we’ve needed anything in a while. That we get to face an LHP – even a good one like Liriano – qualifies as extra good news. The team could really use a win, and the best way for this team to win is to have Felix on the mound for us an a lefty on the mound for the opponents.
Line-up is posted in the thread below, but it’s basically the anti-LHP line-up.

Oh Beltre…..
Beltre… losing trade value by the minute.
I almost feel like the Twins are irrelevant in this contest. The real battle is taking place between the M’s pitching staff and the M’s offense. A sort of twisted game of keep-away is afoot and the pitching staff is winning right now.
Beltre, about as bad as it gets for him today.
Yuni has taken some pitchers today – strikes straight down the middle. It’s like he’s waiting for pitchers outside the strike zone to swing at. Also the Twins announcers suck. I’ve turned them off and am listening to Husker Du- the only good thing I know of to come out of Minnesota.
It was five pitches. For Yuni, that is.
Trade Yuni for a used Pac-Man arcade game. Or something remotely useful. Release him, DFA him, do something.
I. Can’t. Stand. This.
Yuni. Does. Not. Belong. Here.
Not just here, but in all of major-league baseball.
It’s okay, I still forgive you.
Omar Vizquel is playing 3B for Texas? I guess Young’s “stiff back” last night was a little stiffer than they thought. (What’s with all the bad backs lately? Is that the new “flu-like symptoms” now that “flu” sounds scary?)
Yeah, that was my sentiment after that DP… I’m so sick of him. They can send him back to Cuba for all I care – and that’s saying something.
I have to admit…. Beltre is not having a very good game. Neither are most of the others.
Leave Stark out there until his elbow explodes.
Well that was a close one.
Luckily we avoided the Denny Grand Slam.
Blowers is so full of shit. “We’re going to rattle off 6, 7 in a row. We have that kind of club.â€
Blowers actually meant to say, “We’re going to rattle off 6, 7 in a row LOSSES. We have that kind of club.”
Blowers just made me laugh……
Haha. Nicely done, Mike G.
This team is dangerously close to turning me into a fairweather fan.
Blowers just made up for it with that Almonte joke. Classic.
Oh yeah, forget to add for Blowers’ comment: “No doubt about it.”
Actually, that would be foulweather fan. They played well when the weather was lousy. Now that it’s a nice day with sunshine and blue skys, they can’t win.
Whether the weather be fair or whether the weather be foul, we’ll weather the weather whatever the weather, whether we like it or not.
Woohoo!
Beltr having an eventful game.
I’ll be the optimist here………
Let’s just hope that homerun turns Beltre’s season around.

And because the AL West is so bad we get to be tickled to death throughout the season (they’re only X games out of first place!). At least last year it was quick and… well, not really painless. But at least by mid-May we knew the team had no chance.
Beltre seemed to enjoy Matt’s cheese.
In case you were wondering what Kenji just did – that was a beautiful sweep behind square if he was playing cricket.
Did anybody find it creepy how long the camera stayed on that mom?
Nah. I was happy to look at something pretty after all the ugly we’ve had to endure today.
Maybe we can trade Yuni for some Xanax to calm Beltre down.
FU BETANCOURT!!
Imagine that. Yuni pops up on the 2nd pitch. I. Did. Not. See. That. Coming.
Go easy on Yuni, his mascara was running.
You think nothing’s being done about Yuni because the M’s are still making payments on that Doubleplay Twins bike?
Good time for Lopez to come alive.
Well, that game sucked big time.
Hey guys, Remember ’95?
Feel better now? You’re welcome.
Dude was not anywhere NEAR touching 2nd on that DP turn. But oh well. Ump says IT’S DINNAH TIME!
Maybe we can turn it around with Bedard going tommorow, we hit a little today atleast.
Okay, I finally snapped and created the Bizarro Yuniesky Betancourt Fan Club on Facebook.
There’s a couple real fanpages of Yuni on Facebook. I highly recommend not checking those out.
Nicole Zaloumis is a nice consolation prize.
I would love to see “The King” start of the first inning by throwing 2 curve balls like the twins closer. Would blow the scouting reports all to hell.
I joined, and left a haiku.
M’s drop to 11% chance to win the division. Oh and the Angels beat Greinke 1-0. When it rains it pours.
Wow, missed this game. I was at work, having the worst day of my life. I guess one positive is that I didn’t watch this??
Silva didn’t miss the Denny’s Grand Slam…
Okay, I finally snapped and created the Bizarro Yuniesky Betancourt Fan Club on Facebook.
Heh. Wouldn’t it be cool if Yuni himself joined that fan club?
When all the announcers are talking about Yuni’s inability to take even a single pitch with the bases loaded when he’s thrown a pitch out of the zone, you’d think maybe Wak would start taking notice. It would have been nice if we hadn’t traded all our options at short to Cleveland, however.
On the pre-game show Friday (I think), Drayer was talking with one of the minor league coaches (I didn’t catch his name) about patience at the plate. The guy said it’s something they’ve started working on in the system within the last couple of years, and pointed out it takes some time to undo bad habits. So they’re apparently aware of it (even were under Bavasi, or else they’re trying to, ahem, back-date the memo to fit in with the new boss).
But it’s way too late for Yuni.
