Game 37, Red Sox at Mariners
Beckett v Olson. 7:10.
As much as I’m an M’s fan, it’s going to take a lot to produce a better moment than John Lackey getting tossed in two pitches. That’s just cool. Interestingly, the Sox-M’s game wasn’t the longest odds of the day in Vegas: you could get that for the Mets over SF, NY over the Twins, and Tampa over Cleveland (Twins… value bet?).
Anyway, my point: sure, Olson got called up just over a week ago. But last night the M’s squeaked out a game they didn’t have much business winning. No reason they couldn’t do it again. Hopefully it won’t involve getting Ichiro! plunked.

I’m really hoarse now because I had to do my bit to help drown out the Sox fans. Ah for the good old days of 2002 when a 1918 chant filled the Safe…
While the game itself was a little frustrating to say the least, my memories of it will be sitting 5 rows behind the people who got their damn rally fries after begging for it all game and some weird drunk guy in a ‘stros cap who kept trying to start up chants for the Astros for no apparent reason.
Hmmm…that’s interesting. Besides historically chronic post-season ineptitude, the only other connections that immediately come to mind between those two teams are Bagwell and Clemens — but ironically, neither of those guys won a WS ring during the ‘Stros ONE appearance, either.
