Game 39, Angels at Mariners
I’m just glad the Red Sox are gone. Anyway! It’s Lackey vs. New Improved Wasburn, who already faced the Angels twice and didn’t look all that new or improved, frankly.
Lackey… well, this will be Lackey’s first real start because of that getting-tossed thing. That’s kind of a weird situation for the team, right? All the pitchers are on set day-by-day routines, and suddenly there’s a starter worth putting out there a day off his schedule. Meanwhile, getting tossed so early hoses your bullpen plans… I’m hoping it all ends up working out for the M’s, obviously.
And if he plunks Ichiro! on two pitches, all rules of civilized conduct are nullified.

It is amazing what a couple days on the bench teaches a guy about the fundamentals, and changes him, isn’t it?
I feel like I should delete that, but it’s not strictly speaking racist… but it’s kinda… ennhhhhh… I don’t know.
Selfish Ichiro. Team needs a 4-run HR and all he gives them is a single.
I think the controversy is over whether word “plays” is appropriate. He “stands” there. Anything else is your personal interpretation.
He should steal second, third, home and then home three more times and tie this up himself before Lopez sees another pitch.
DEFENSE MATTERS!!!!!!!!!
I sure didn’t mean it as racist at all, but if you’d feel better deleting it no worries. Sorry if it offended.
Branyon would be awful at 3B. This is not to be referenced again.
I think you should have said “Yuniesky Betterdepart”, in which case there would be no controversy.
Of course, Yuni deserves all the scorn he gets.
But on a different level, I feel sorry for the guy. I have never seen any defender with so much natural talent fall so far so fast.
Maybe psyche, maybe weight, maybe something else. But I for one am finished berating him.
He is now the special needs kid of middle infielders.
Well considering the stir Baker’s trade rumor stirred today, the game gave a good sample to those who still think that Betancourt’s upside is worth holding onto. Pirates fans no better, they think we should throw in a plum prospect to amke that deal.
I was disgusted and trying to think of something witty. Not a good combo.
I messed up, distractions. Pirates fans know better.
Made me laugh for about 30 seconds.
Fair enough.
We have nine more games within the division between now and the end of the month, we probably need to win 6 or so to still be in it, no?
Hard to believe since it’s only May 18th, but we’re approaching a do-or-die point.
If Yuni goes to the NL he will hit better, but all the people freaked out that he is going to hit like Hanley Ramirez and field like Omar Vizquel need not worry. He will hit liek Christian Guzman, and field like Yuniesky Betancourt.

Was tonight a statement game? I think the statement was, “play better you damn fools.”
Bleck. A good portion of that loss felt like Yuni’s.
I can’t help but note that the ad top right is for something titled “The Miracles of Archangel Michael”.
I wonder if Michael would consider fixing a few things for the Mariners; nothing, you know, bizarrely miraculous. Just a few little ones. If he’s gonna advertise, well, demonstrations make a GREAT advertisement, no?
