I like the added gulping noise they edited in.
I had Kirin Ichiban for the first time around my son’s 2nd birthday – His name is Kieran, so we thought it was kind of fun. Plus I am very into all things Japanese. It’s good stuff. Gone through a couple of more cases since then.
I am glad to see I enjoy Ichiro’s choice in beer. Somehow I feel like my outfield routes in softball have improved. Coincidence?
Really? I am going to get some Kirin Ichiban to bring to my game tonight. Then I will be “death to all flying things” too!
I wonder if Ichiro just has no idea how to pour a beer, or if that’s how they pour beer in Japan?
In Japan, that is a perfect pour. Notice the aesthetically pleasing head on the beer. Not only taste, but also presentation matters.
Rough translation of Ichiro’s line, “That’s well brewed!”
At least that’s what the guy in the next office thinks.
Presentation does matter, but that is WAY too much head …
Oh man, I just found my new beer. Kirin, it’s Nippon Ichiban!
There is no such thing as too much head.
But I digress. In Japan, the gift wrapping on the gift is just as important as the gift itself.
Yeah, because products in the US look and are used exactly the way they appear in the commercials for them. Ichiro also holds the bottle so you can see the logo. I doubt he does that in everyday life, either.
I wonder if Ichiro supplied the gulping sounds in post, or if that’s some lowly foley artist.
Kirin’s an OK beer in that standardized international lager style, and though I’d take a couple of other Japanese brands ahead of it given the choice, I will always have a soft spot for it because it was the first beer I was ever served in a restaurant — when I was 15, in Japan (everybody there had trouble judging my age, apparently, and nobody ever asked to see my passport).
