Game 137, M’s at A’s

French v Anderson, 6:05

The Yahoo GameChannel lineup lists “SS J Wilson” twice, which I assume means that Josh is playing second. Jose Lopez at first, Designated Hugger Mike Sweeney bats fourth, again, inexplicably, so either shake your head or take your blood pressure medication, depending on how worked up you get about this kind of thing.

Sucks that French gets the loss when Batista was the one who ruined the game. Especially since we would’ve tied it in the ninth.

If there is some reason Batista is on the roster after September 1, let alone put in a game, it escapes me entirely.

How about Miguel Batista? What a champ.

Yes. I make spelling mistakes all the time, but I try not to be a cock about it.

    I think he’s making a champ/chump joke.

“I’m always antsy when Ichiro is up there,” Anderson said. “I hate facing that guy the way he hits. It’s not a good matchup for me. He’s one of the toughest guys to face because he always finds a way to get the bat on the ball.”

Well, that’s good to know. Because I suspect Anderson is going to he a thorn in our sides for several seasons to come. At least until the rest of the baseball world notices how good he is, at which point Beane flips him for a handful prospects, at least one of which turns out to be yet another stud pitcher in the making.

Also: two Sweeneys, two Suzukis, and two Wilsons. Is there some record for most unrelated players sharing names in a game, and did this game break it? Especially impressive considering none of them were Cabrera, Martinez, or Lopez. We just needed Gabby in the bullpen to relieve Felix.
