I wonder if Tui knows about this?
I really hope they reference this in the TV broadcast in tomorrow’s game. More people need to hear this. Pure love of their jobs and love of the game right there.
Can someone hit Blowers up for some stock tips? Or maybe next Friday’s Mega Millions numbers?

If you make enough picks over a 162 game season, you’re bound to get one of them to click. Hopefully people forget about all the times you missed when that happens.

Yeah. He said as much on the post-game — they replayed those two clips and then asked him about it, and he said “A long time ago Niehaus told me you might as well be bold with your predictions, because if you get them wrong nobody remembers, but eventually you’ll get one right and nobody will ever forget it.”
That said, all the added details — the pitch count, the part of the stands, the at-bat — are what make this one particularly brilliant. That, and Rizzs giggling uncontrollably in the background.
I wish there was a camera on the booth during this, though. The expressions on all three of their faces must’ve been priceless. Think Blowers had his arms up in the “half court shot, nothing but net” pose?

Shannon has said before that in the days when Blowers did the post game show with them, they’d sit in the press box watching the game and he would say, watch, now [this] will happen … and it would.

Blowers is by far the best color man the Mariners have ever had.
Knowledgeable, well spoken, modest, and seems to understand the game, and share that knowledge way better than any of the prior guys.
He gushes less too. Which is really welcome.

I think my favorite thing about Blowers is how much he just clicks with Dave Sims. They make an excellent tandem.

I’m pretty sure that was Rizzs giggling maniacally in the background (possibly joined by producer/engineer Kevin). At that point, Blowers was over on the TV side with Simms, and Niehaus was calling the play-by-play on the radio with Rizzs.
I love how Dave’s voice is cracking when he’s making the call (even at the beginning). I would love to hear what he thinks of his call of this home run. Like Mr. Cameron said, too much fun.
