Game 158, A’s at Mariners

Mortensen v Morrow.

Saunders in left, Hannahan at first. Johjima gets a turn behind the plate. Griffey DHs, so prepare for another night of will-he won’t-he commentary. If we’re really lucky, we’ll get to see Branyan pinch-hit. And Batista. Just to make things exciting, you know.

I <3 this version of Morrow and want him to stay.

Is it just me, or is the strike zone all over the place tonight?

As long as the strike zone is all over the same places as Morrow’s command, who cares?

  4. henryv on September 30th, 2009 9:22 pm

Apparently Henry Rodriguez can throw the ball really, really fast.

Holy crap I love Brandon… I wish he’d always love me back in this way.

Morrow’s actually had great command all night, and the strike zone is fairly consistent: PitchFX

If anything, he’s been a TINY bit squeezed on the edges of the zone.

anyone know the maximum velocity a baseball can travel that is thrown by a human?

WE: 100%. Apparently no team has ever come back from being down 7 runs in the 9th inning on the road.

    Practically? ~110.

    pitchcount?

Oh, God, they’re referring to the guy in Tampa as a petulant child. Please drop it, Sims. It’s nice that the hometown fan was being cooperative and happy. The other guy was entirely within his rights, okay?

Okay, I don’t want to rehash it TOO much, but I’ll just say this:

“Within his rights” or not, there is a right way and a wrong way to handle situations like that, and by all accounts, Mr. Muscles in Tampa handled it in about as wrong a way as possible.

Jose Lopez hit his 25th home run in Tampa and wanted the ball back. The local crew tried to persuade him to hand it over, but he wouldn’t budge. Sims was saying how he should give it up and made a joke while he was being escorted out of his seat that it was going to be removed by force behind the scenes.

    M’s over .500! Woo!

Wasn’t there someone posting earlier in the season that he had a bet with his bro-in-law to get free drinks for every game the M’s won over 60? I assume we haven’t heard from him recently because he won’t be sobering up until November.

(Every M’s win from #65 on is a beer won from my brother-in-law in a preseason bet.)

That’s me. 28 beers and counting. I’ll be collecting at Halloween.

(bet was, he gives me a beer for every win they get over 54, I give him one for ever win they get under 75.)

I fear I’m going to be giving some back, though. I bet him a six-pack for every win the Huskies got over 3, and they’re already at 2.
