Site upgrade

DMZ · June 6, 2008 at 8:30 am · Filed Under Site information

Quick note — we here at USSM Labs did some work on the back end over last night (well, now that I look at my notes, over the last month) that went out earlier this morning to hopefully improve performance. Quicktags remain broken (for reasons I can’t figure out) but everything else looks good. Drop us a line if you see anything weird. Weirder than normal (which includes the team owner braining Richie Sexson with a folding chair)
Current outstanding issues we’re looking at:
1. Quicktags not working

The site seems better, stronger, faster.

Can you now work on upgrading the Mariners?

Derek – if you posted a list of specific pieces/functions of the site to be verified, we could fan out and try everything. Use the crowd that benefits from the hospitality. 🙂

    It’s the performance-enhancing code.

The site still seems to be devoted to the Seattle Mariners. I thought you said this was an upgrade.

I see what you did there.

I like to think joser got on base, and I just drove the run home.

Well, that would certainly require an upgrade from the current lineup.

The important question is whether the back end work was on a veteran part of the site or a rookie part of the site. If it was a gritty veteran part of the site, then it needs to have lots of time, assiduous attention to its fragile ego and perhaps a more open stance. If it was a rookie part of the site, it needs to be shipped back down to the minors if it does not perform at an all-star level immediately.

Perhaps we have to wait for the next Draft thread to see if it will fall to its knees again like it did yesterday. Getting a refresh once every 10 minutes was impossible for a while on Thursday. Sort of like game threads.

Also while fixing things we need a new submit button. One that says, “This may not be the best quality comment I can muster, but it befits the team to which it pertains”.

I liked “Add my light to the glowing firmament of discussion”. It was less overtly snarky than “I’m proud of this comment”. Hehe.

New to the site. Very much appreciate the difficulties of propping an upgrade. 🙂

Cheers for all the great work and discussions I’ve plowed through in the archives. Thanks for wrecking my sleep patterns this week, and making it harder to look away from the train wreck. Heh.
